Oh, that was quite the workout session. She was panting quite a bit. Hearing him ask if she was up to hunting, she stood up, feeling a little heavy, but nodded at him. "I can probably get a mouse, at least."
Still feeling rather...elated, Molefur nodded his head. "Well, I'm up for trying something a little substantial. With you helping, maybe this'll work best."
He still felt a bit of a failure for his lack of success earlier. But he was, well...feeling rather more confident. For obvious reasons.

Or not...He frowned slightly, then, looking above him, realized there was probably a good chance that some feathered prey was about.

Wanting to impress Shadestorm, he jerked his head upwards, bringing her attention to her. "Help me corner it." He said, knowing that the bird would likely try to fly immediately.
He then dropped into a crouch, creeping along and scaling a small branch in order to get closer, running as soon as the bird seemed ready to flutter.
She looked over and spotted the bird. Eyes widening, she stood right up, and started running after the little bird. There was no way it was escaping her!

Orrrrrrrr, was there? Panting, she stopped after a little bit, and collapsed back on the ground. "Ugggghhhhhh, that bird's way too fast for me..."1d6+6
Molefur frowned, as the bird fluttered up into the sky long ahead of bother of their claws. He was more inclined to blame himself that Shadestorm, of course. He shook his head. "Wasn't likely good enough anyways..." He admitted, hunkering down on his branch to take a breath and look down upon Shadestorm. Then, he lifted his nose to the sky and attempted to scent out some other tantalizing prey.

Paltry as it was, it seemed his luck had finally changed when he spotted a small scuttling in the grass below. With a graceful arch, he lept to the ground, claws sinking into a small creature that squealed at his touch.

Finally, he picked up the chubby mouse in his jaws and brought it towards Shadestorm. "Here...you should have it. We can fine more, surely."
She looked over at the mouse. While she had eaten fairly recently, she still smiled warmly, and nodded appreciatively at him, before starting to munch on the mouse.
Molefur felt productive, knowing that at least Shadestorm got to eat. But they had an entire clan to feed, after all. But, judging the darkness, Molefur wondered if there were any other rodents about. Perhaps it was best to keep, and start small.
And who knew how big that fellow's family was.

Another scuttling sound. Molefur pounced, and once again felt the soft, furry body beneath his claws. Hmm...much easier than birds tonight, it seemed. Likely do to their poor eyesight in the dark. He grinned.

A third rustle and squeak. Feeling rather enthusiastic, Molefure lept; claws sinking into fur once more. Yes, mice it seemed was on the menu...it might not be filling...but they were just enough. And any cat could catch a mouse.

She looked over at his two mice, then decided, despite being pregnant with his kits, she would try to do some hunting by herself. She started searching for some mice.

Aha, there was one right there! Creeping up toward it, she pounced, and slashed down with her claws, killing it easily. Then, she started looking for another.

And, another one! She quickly crept toward it, doing the same thing she did with the last one.

She then looked back over at him. "Well, I think that should be good, don't you?"1-100·1-100

"A fine enough meal for the four of us to bring back." Molefur agreed, picking up his two mice by their dangling tails and nodding at Shadestorm. "I'm sure someone will find them a nice snack coming back later tonight...Not to mention pleased with a bit of happy news." He purred, still somewhat dazed thinking about what had happened.
"Come on...We'll take our time. But something tells me I could beat you this time..." He said, around mice tails, as he headed back towards camp, prey in his jaws.
To think, it wasn't long ago that here, Molefur and Shadestorm had celebrated the news they would soon be parents. And so much had seemed to sadden after that. Now, he was carrying his daughter- a cold scrap of fur that seemed threaten to choke him with pure emotion. He set his daughter down on the soft, loamy soil, giving her tiny head a few, comforting licks - as if his touch would help revive her, though he knew it was past that.
"You would have been a wonderful warrior, my daughter." He whispered, before his nimble paws began to dig her tiny resting place. He placed her in it, and felt compelled to touch her once more - prodding her gently with one paw, patting between her ears until the tip of her tail.
"Look after her, mother. I trust you to her." He mewed, sadness clinging to his voice, before he rested dirt on top of the tiny corpse.
He needed a distraction - and felt certain that Shadestorm would need a similar distraction. Sniffing around, he tried to find something to eat, to bring back to his clanmmates.

At first, he had looked for the staple of Glenclan, a bird...but his eyes were drawn for the shivering in a bush to his right. A large, fat creature. Much more substantial than a bird.
He knew there was a woodchuck back at camp, but it had looked and smelled quite stale when he saw it. This would do nicely; as he crept up to the creature and attacked.

The creature died instantly as his claws cut it's throat. It fell against the ground, and before he prepared to drag it home, he walked around and made sure to mark the area with a strengthened border marking. He even enjoyed some of his catch, as he looked over Barkkit's grave.
"We will miss you, my little one." He told her, once more, before picking up his kill and heading back to camp.1d6+10
