The Sun was right in the clouds now, and Molefur couldn't help but feel a little foolish to the fact that his stomach was still growling. Surely he should have been able to find something before now; but he had simply been distracted. Newleaf brought so many beautiful smells and sites - and it was miraculous to see after such a long Leaf-Bare. The tom was simply happy to take in the journey around Glenclan's usual territories.
He was soon distracted by something else, however, and he stopped, ears flickering forward as he heard a certain voice. Or rather, voices. In his excitement, he rushed forward, leaves rustling in his wake.
"Ha. And here I thought I'd be the only one up at this time!" He purred, pleased. Ravenstar, Gingershadow and Yarrowfang. Must be out on a hunting patrol of their own. He worried perhaps that Ravenstar might say something about him being outside on his own, but eagerness in lending a paw in the hunt was, well...better than that.
Except...it seemed like he had missed something. Was it just him, or some unshed tension hanging palpable in the air. "Am I...intruding on something?"
“Sorry, I was out on a walk and didn't mean to sneak up on you all. I mean- I wasn’t sneaking. I just didn‘t think you'd be out here. Didn’t mean to bother you all.“
Ravenstar smiled kindly, though inwardly he was amused at Yarrowfang's sudden awkwardness. "Bother? Never." he purred. "You're more than welcome to--"[/b]
"Ha. And here I thought I'd be the only one up at this time!"
Ravenstar turned to see Molefur bound toward the group. He looked from Molefur to Yarrowfang and back again to Molefur. The Darkened Grove had definitely become a hub of activity in a short amount of time. "I believe we've been ambushed," he joked to Gingershadow quietly. He enjoyed company; usually the more, the better. He had, however, intended to learn more about Gingershadow. They hadn't had the time to revisit the topic, and it looked like they wouldn't be anytime soon.
"Am I...intruding on something?"
Ravenstar was reanimated from his thoughts by Molefur's question. "Of course not!" he said, inviting Molefur over with a flick of his tail. "Please come join us."
He regarded both toms with a warm grin. "Have you had good mornings, each of you?" Ravenstar remembered the crow and nodded to it. "There's only some left, but either of you are welcome to it. In fact," he began thoughtfully. "Now that there's more of us, perhaps we can have a proper hunting party. If we don't bring something back to camp we'll all have our tails chewed."
Molefur purred with relief when Ravenstar explained he hadn't overstepped his boundaries or done anything worrying. He settled on his haunches, eyeing the remainders of the crow hungrily, but looked at Yarrowfang for confirmation. "You wouldn't mind, would you?" He asked, as he stepped forward towards the remains of the bird. "With four of us together, we should be able to find something better, but I feel like there's claws in my stomach."
He licked his chops, and sighed. "I've been out to Hollow Tree, but it doesn't appear that there was good hunting there this morning. I was so close to a dove that I could taste it's tailfeathers, but...I think hunger got the best of me." He rolled his eyes. "Frankly I think we should be able to bring back a whole slew of food for the entire camp. No excuse for any Glenclan cat to go hungry!"
Ravenstar had smiled and seemed to welcome him, and only seconds later Molefur showed up. He turned his head as he approached. Molefur was an alright tom who was a few moons older than him , though he was a little mild. "Have you had good mornings, each of you?” Asked Ravenstar, to which Yarrowfang gave a nod. It was a good morning he supposed. But everything was too calm. The other clans were keeping to themselves, prey was high, and the forest seemed to be safe. He should be happy, but inwardly he’d like to see a little action every once in a while. He saw Ravenstar gesture to the crow.
“There's only some left, but either of you are welcome to it. In fact, now that there's more of us, perhaps we can have a proper hunting party. If we don't bring something back to camp we'll all have our tails chewed."
Yarrowfang thought back to camp and cringed at the thought of how Ashenmane would chide them if no one brought back anything. He felt his mouth water at the sight of the partly-eaten crow on the ground, but Molefur was already moving towards it. “You wouldn't mind, would you?" “Ah, yeah. I’ll eat something later.” He told Molefur. “So long as I get to eat something today! I hope I catch a rat or mouse...or, anything really.“ He lowered himself to stretch his paws in the dirt in front of him, exposing his claws. It would be good for him to get a little hunting in, it was just the challenge he needed in these uneventful times.

I guess I'll get back to hunting then. She sniffed the air, looking for the stench of rat. Rats were easy to hunt, she would bring the rat back to camp. Spotting Gingershadow searching for prey, Yarrowfang figured he’d follow her lead and see if there were any rats lurking about. There seemed to be an abundance of prey this new-leaf, and he would gladly take advantage of it.
Suddenly, he saw her lunge for one. "Yarrowfang! Get the rat while it's still stunned!" A little taken off-guard, he scrambled over to help, attempting to strike the critter.

"Mouse-dung!" He hissed, with his prey moving at the last second and feeling his claws graze over it's tail. He was so close! But he hadn't been ready. Maybe there was still a chance someone could catch it... 1d6+2

Molefur nodded his head greatfully in Yarrowfang's direction. "Thank you." He said, indeed greatful to the other tom, as he made short work of the remainder of the crow. Immediately, he felt the pang in his stomach ease a bit. Yes, the bird was a bit tough - but there was really nothing like it for quenching hunger.
The others, meanwhile, seemed to have continued the hunt - a fact that nearly escaped the young tom before he saw the scuttling grey thing moving across the clearing and hearing his Clanmate's cursing. Rejuvinated somewhat by his meal, he sat up, whiskers twitching with interest as the rat, in a flurry to escape, ran his way.
Tensing ever so slightly, he took a spring at it, swiping at it with nimble paws.

Frightened, the rat snapped at his paws, and in order to dodge the sharp teeth, Molefur went off to the side with his catch. How clumsy pawed were they all this morning!1d6+3

The tabby was hopeful as Gingershadow leaped back to action, leaping for the rat once more. Unfortunately, she missed. What a stupid rat! It needed to slow down! Yarrowfang sprinted after the fleeing rodent. He knew he shouldn’t try so hard, but he was getting irritated that they couldn’t catch it!

Molefur perked up significantly as Yarrowfang darted past him, almost immediately. The rat was soon limp in his clanmates' jaws. "Good catch!" He praised, again feeling a little ashamed that yet another piece of prey had been able to get away from his paws that day.
"At least someone's having some good hunting this morning." He purred, trying to remain in good humor. "Should we try for something else, or do you want me to bring that bank to camp for some of the others. I'm feeling' quite spry."
"Nice catch." She said quietly before attempting to attack the rat. They really needed to bring back more than just one rat. She would prefer if they brought back two. Her amber eyes narrowed as she crouched down, slowly moving towards the rat. Her tail still. She was focusing on one thing now. The rat. Unm8Ihkk1d6+2 She missed, again. How embarrassing! Ugh. She wasn't going to have any luck today. "Help me catch this tricky little rat!" She calls out, hoping her patrolmates would lend a paw.1d6+2
Yarrowfang set the rat down with a pleased grin and flicked his tail at Molefur‘s comment. “Bout time I had some luck!” He purred. “Lets go for one more, then I‘m heading back.” He was feeling surprisingly good today, so he supposed he had really needed to get some good hunting in after all.
While they had finished off one rat, he looked over to see that Gingershadow had been stalking another one and called out to them. Guess he’d better help out! Running over as fast as he could, the tabby sprang into action, aiming his unsheathed claws at it’s scurrying body.

Aw fail- not again! Maybe Molefur could catch it. 1d6+2
Rats - literally. They were being quite difficult today. It was almost embarassing for a group of full-grown warriors to be struggling so much with catching paltry rodents. Molefur watched as another rat seemed close to being cornered, but he bristled and prepared himself to leap.
"Drive it here!" He yowled, and indeed, he found the rat coming towards his front paws. He need only spring.

But once again, his elongated limbs betrayed him. He growled in frustration as the rat scurried past his extended claws. "No!" He shouted, angrily...
The tortoiseshell she-cat pads around the forest, scanning her surroundings for herbs. Her ears perked up 'Voices!' she thought. Robinpelt wanted this trip to be quiet, she wanted to be alone. She narrows her eyes, searching everywhere. She sniffs the air. Seeing if she could find some lamb's ear. 8kPUH0631-100 A distinct lamb's ear plant catches her eye. Yarrowfang rolled his eyes. All this prey and everyone was too slow-pawed to catch them! Maybe it was because prey was so plentiful, and everybody was relaxed, including him. Whatever the case may be, he was ready to leave. He twitched an ear. “Ahh, I’m tired of this! Hey, I’ll go take this back to camp.” He picked up the rat kill and padded away. Whether his two companions decided to join him or stay and try their luck some more, he was out of here.
On his way back, he made sure to mark his scent on some of the trees so that no other kitties got any ideas about their hunting grounds!
