Sandkit looked over at his brother who had just made a noise. He wanted to do that too! Sandkit momentarily stops suckling and attempts to speak like his brother did. "Wah-aaaa...oh-hs." He mews, talking was hard...but he'd get better...eventually. Sandkit resumes drinking until his stomach was no longer empty.
The sounds of mewlings reached her pink ears as Pearlstar padded into the nursery, and the sweet aroma of milk surrounded her. Purring warmly, she blinked her golden eyes as she picked out the shapes of the mother and her kits in the dim light. "Greetings, Maplefang." She meowed softly. "May I come in?"

Maplefang smiled at how her kittens were starting talk, giggling a bit. "Yes, you're doing very good, you'll be good warriors indeed~" After a little while, she heard Pearlstar's voice. Looking over at her, she nodded. "Of course, Pearlstar, you're always welcome to visit." She then looked down at the both of her kits, eyes gleaming with pride. "Aren't they just the most beautiful creatures you've ever seen?"
At Maplefang’s permission, Pearlstar made her way over and settled herself beside the mother and kits, her whiskers twitching with enthusiasm. She always loved when new kits were born into the clan, and these were her deputy’s kits, no less!
A soft smile appeared on her angular face as she looked down upon the two kittens. Both toms. With a smile, she replied to Maplefang. “Yes, they will make fine warriors one day. Creekclan is blessed to have them.” Lowering her head, she bent down to sniff each of the kits in turn. The smaller of the two kits appeared to be a red-colored tabby, whilst the larger was a sandy-color with stripes. Pearlstar could definitely see the resemblance to their parents, though. “Do they have names yet?”

Sandkit paused his suckling to glance up at the white she-cat who seemed to be communicating with his mother. He wanted to talk to them too! "Wa-ah-ohs!" He mews, that being the only word he could pronounce. After speaking he resumes drinking his mother's milk.

As he listened to the white cat talk with his mom, he tried to talk again. "Ceekclan? Ceeeeeeekclan. Creeeeeeekclan." He blinked. "Creekclan." Then he looked at Pearlstar. "I Claykit." Wow, he said a whole two words in a row! ...But, then he got hungry again, and started nursing once more.
Maplefang was about to tell her, when suddenly, Sandkit spoke up. She giggled. Anyway, she was about to turn back to Pearlstar, when she heard Claykit speak up. Turning over to him, she blinked, but then began to smile. "Very good, Claykit~!" Chuckling, she turned back over to Pearlstar. "Anyway, like he said, he's Claykit, and his brother's name is Sandkit."
While she was watching the kits, the sandy one had paused from his milk to open his mouth mew out to her. Flicking an ear, Pearlstar thought that he might be trying to say something to her, but she could understand nothing of it and he had returned to suckling anyway. So the white cat just gave him a smile before his brother got her attention. This one actually seemed to have started mimicking words, and was saying what sounded just like “Creekclan.”
With surprise, she looked back to their praising mother. “Oh, they’re fast learners too.“ Pearstar purred and flickered swished her tail over the ground, stirring up small rustlings of leaves. They would make good apprentices and warriors…which reminded her, that Creekclan’s current apprentices would have their own warrior ceremonies soon enough. Where was the time slipping to? It had seemed like only yesterday that Amberpaw, Wasppaw, and Cedarpaw had received their ’paws.’
Dipping her head to the queen, the leader got to her feet. “Well, Claykit and Sandkit. You little ones will be apprentices before you know it!” Looking over to Maplefang once more, she continued. “Thank you for letting me see your kits…I know you and Cougarheart are proud of them.” With that, she left the nursery, knowing she should probably make sure a patrol was organized. After all, they needed freshkill, and she wanted the borders marked excessively so that no Nestclanners dared to venture in!
Well, the other she-cat seemed to praising them. "T-thanks." He mewed. He then started suckling from his mom once more. Then once he got his fill, he started napping.
Maplefang couldn't help but beam with pride. Yes, her kits would be great warriors, she would definitely make sure of that. A few hours after Pearlstar left, however, she felt a pain in her belly. Looking down at her kits, she stood up, and smiled warmly. "Don't worry, I'll be right back~" She then left the nursery.
Arriving back at the nursery, Maplefang laid right next to her two kits, nuzzling them, and licking them. "Sorry, my little ones, that I took so long, but, I don't believe it'll happen again in the future~"
Sandkit let out a loud shriek as a sharp pain shot through his stomach. His head slowly lowering to the ground... A few moments later, warmth returned to his cooling body. What had happened? Whatever. All Sandkit knew was that he was hungry. He squirms to his mother, drinking his fill once again. Acting as if nothing strange had just took place.
Claykit hadn't seemed to notice anything was out of place, as he started suckling again. Once he got his fill of the milk again, he looked up at their mama. "Mama, when do gedda be apprentices?"
(Just go ahead and have Sandkit be able to talk too, they're both almost a season old.)
"Yeah! I wanna be an apprentice! Look at me! I can fight!" Sandkit squeaks as he playfully swats at his brother. Sandkit then squirms closer to his mother and begins to suckle once more.
